AmeriCorps Volunteer Position

JOB TITLE: Community Preparedness and Health and Safety Education Specialist,
Wage: $11,400 stipend, benefits, $4,700 education funds
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
One year full-time volunteer position to educate the community about the Red Cross.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
- Recruit, train and place and retain volunteers
- Regularly attend volunteer committee meetings
- Identify target audiences in the community
- Present educational materials to community groups on variety of disaster/emergency topics
- Instruct individuals in First Aid/CPR/AED and Community Preparedness
- Organize educational materials for distribution at presentations
- Research new preventive/preparedness materials
- Attend health/safety fairs (may promote American Red Cross products and services)
- Perform demonstrations of First Aid/CPR/AED for public awareness
- Respond to disaster scenes as assigned by Disaster Action Team
- Participate in DAT meetings
- Complete Individual Service Project (100 hours total that are included in work week)
- Public speaking ability
- Good telephone etiquette
- Desire to interact with people
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to work independently
- Must successfully pass a background check
- Valid Utah Drivers License required
