The best way to help disaster victims is through a financial donation. A financial contribution allows disaster victims to quickly obtain basic necessities for themselves and their families, while stimulating the disaster-affected local economy. Contributions to the American Red Cross, a tax-exempt organization under Section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, are deductible for computing income and estate taxes.
The Red Cross needs your support today and tomorrow.
Your support is critical to help families in need. Each year, the Red Cross touches the lives of people in 4 Northern Utah Counties. Delivering emergency services to victims of local disasters; training local residents in lifesaving skills; delivering hundreds of emergency messages for local families with loved ones in the armed forces. The Northern Utah Chapter of the American Red Cross is not a government agency. We are not funded by the national Red Cross. In fact, we help support national disaster relief. We need your support. Annual support from individuals and corporations is our largest source of funding.

Donate Stock
If you own stocks and bonds that have increased in value, it may be more advantageous to make a gift of these securities to the Northern Utah Chapter of the American Red Cross, rather than sell them and donate the proceeds from the sale. By donating the securities directly, you may completely avoid the Capital Gains tax while receiving a tax deduction on the securities' increased value. Please notify Lauryn Miller, our Executive Director, at (801) 627-0000 that you will be making a donation. The Red Cross can transact your gift of securities quickly and inexpensively.
Make a bequest in your will or a gift from your trust.
The following language may be used: I give, devise and bequeath to the American Red Cross for the benefit of the Northern Utah Chapter, the sum of $_______, or otherwise describe the gift or specify a percentage of the estate. If you include the Red Cross in your will, please inform us of your plans.
In-Kind Products
The Red Cross is unable to accept small, individual donations or collections of items such as clothing, food or cleaning supplies. The cost to sort, package and distribute these types of donations to a disaster victims is almost always greater than the cost of purchasing the items locally, and it is logistically impossible to distribute a wide variety of individual items in a meaningful way. Because of these cost and logistical concerns, we recommend that you support your community by donating these items to an organization that is equipped to put them to the best possible local use.

Why volunteer?
It's simple. By volunteering, you and thousands of people like you are making a direct impact on lives throughout Northern Utah. Whether you are looking for a one-time project or a long-term commitment, the Northern Utah Chapter could use your help.
Families, students, scouts, and other community groups can find safe, fun volunteer projects that match their interests.
Why have some of us already volunteered?
to help someone else to serve my community to donate professional skills to have an impact to make a difference to get to know my community to make new friends to be challenged to explore a career to strengthen my resume to do something different from my job to learn something new to earn academic credit to build leadership skills satisfaction from accomplishment for recognition for fun! to feel good to feel proud to be part of a team
You will probably have some special reasons of your own. Remember that the motivations you have to offer your services may not be the reasons why you stay. Once you're part of the American Red Cross, you will continue to serve as long as you feel that your efforts are accomplishing something, that your talents are appreciated, and that you make a difference!
